Discover Your Awesome Life Values Now

You have already known some values of the Light. But have you ever defined all your life values? Meet them today.

your life values are like branches of a tree

What Are Life Values?

In the shortest, life values mean all that is important to you. In some cases, you can even die defending them, e.g., when fighting for your country or defending your family.

“Values are the basis for your behaviour and motivation. Values are hierarchical, abstract, and dynamic concepts that mostly describe what we desire or seek to achieve. When I say you hold value, it means that you aspire to something, or you feel that value is worth something to you. Values have a hierarchy, and there are some of them for which you would sacrifice your life.” - Google

Today I will show you how to define what is important for you - in terms of attracting and avoiding it. Some of them include the values of light, necessary to grow spiritually. They are universal and should belong to the life values you follow.

How to Define What Is Important in Holistic Life

Knowing what is important in holistic life will help you to make better choices, and they will bring you more happiness. Let's do an experiment.

Take a diary(by the way, a new calendar with one page per day would be perfect) and write down all the things you did during the last week. Be very precise – add hours or at least the length of time spent on these activities. Continue to record your activities for the next few days.

1. Name Your Life Values

Now the time has come to define the values which have an impact on your life. We distinguish two kinds of them: the move-towards and the move-away values. The first group means "the values I will pursue" and the second - is "the values I will avoid".

The Move-Towards Life Values

If you have done the first exercise from this post, now you can name your move-towards values easily. However, you will need to make an effort to learn their names if you are not sure.

home health beauty flexibility environment fitness gratitude happiness education admiration wealth my spouse honesty achievements dignity excellence fairness challenge comfort forgiveness communication patience non-judgement fun grandchildren family ambitions equality fairness cheerfulness generosity courage friendship communication integrity adventure honour children creativity tolerance acceptance growth tolerance acceptance nobility

The values in bold represent those that are indispensable in spiritual growth, eternal and universal.

Now, look at the list. What can you see? The map of your life values. It shows you what is critical for you, and what you would stand for.

The more time you spend dwelling on a given thing, the more important it is for you. Circle the activities which take up most of your day. Define why you spent so much time on any given thing. Choose five of these activities which were the most time-consuming.

Find the reason for following your life values. It often happens that one value underlies another. For example, you may value work as one of the most important things in your life just because you can contribute to the Universe.

Why do I do it?

Let's say that your work and watching TV are the most time-consuming. Why do you do them? In the case of work - because you have to provide for a living, sometimes because you just feel fulfilled at work.

Watching TV, on the other hand, may give you relaxation and pleasure, it could be a way of dissolving stress after work. Find your own examples now.

The Move-Away-From Values

Now the time has come to discover the things which repulse you, which are procrastinated, avoided and which cause pain. Again, list everything you do not want o to happen in your life, plus all activities avoided and procrastinated. Here are some examples:

uncertainty manipulation emotional blackmail anger distress humiliation guilt physical illness corruption deception emptiness frustration fear aggression hate embarrassment loneliness depression remorse anxiety pain self-criticism mental illness vulnerability poverty criticism by others hostility failure uncertainty judgement shyness

You can also do things to avoid the move-away life values. For example, working and making money is done to avoid poverty, criticism and humiliation.

Therefore, take each of the core activities described in the move-towards life values (e.g. working, watching TV and list what you avoid by doing them.

2. Define Your Life Values

You and someone else can have a different definition of friendship, love or fear. Moreover, your definition may evolve as you grow - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

It is important that the definition is truly yours. it can be based on some knowledge but also according to your experiences and soul plan.

Now you need to define what these values mean to you. Fun or friendship can have a totally different definition for you and your friend, not to mention your parents or your boss. You will define (both the move-towards and the move-away-from ones)Look at the lists again.

  • Choose 5 most important move-towards life values

  • Define them - how would you describe them using your own words, without checking Google or following other people's opinions?

  • Do the same two things for your move-away-from-life values.

For example, love can mean taking care of the other person or it can mean passionate sex. Now it is your turn to define what the most important things in your life mean to you. Take five values that you have listed above and define their meaning.

3. Rank Your Life Values

The last but not least part of this exercise will be the rank of your values. Just number the ones in the table above from 1 to 5, where 1 means "the most important value". Your top 3 move-toward values determine your life path.

After defining the move-towards values, the time has come to find out what repels you the most.

Define Your Cynosure

Now, look at the top three values in both groups: the move-towards and the move-away-from-life ones. The first group of values are so important for you that you sacrifice your life to keep them.

The second three life values are so painful that you do everything to avoid them. These six values are critical as they will always have an impact on your decisions – unless you learn how to integrate the values that repulse you.

Here is an example:

  • the move-towards life values: love, friendship, honesty

  • the move-away life values: humiliation, fear of criticism, fear of rejection.
