“Sometimes you can only find Heaven by slowly backing away from Hell.” - Carrie Fisher

I know, you have probably tried many methods to stop smoking, procrastinating, or eating junk food. I have good news for you: Changing your habits, i.e., giving up addictions, is possible by using affirmations. How can you do it?

How Affirmations Can Help You to Give Up an Addiction

Choose the affirmation from the list below. Not all of them may be applicable in your case, but choose at least one and start working on it instantly, for at least 30 days, but I'd recommend 90 days.

1. Create a Desire, Your Why

It is not enough to read or write the affirmations. You need to know why you want to use them. Otherwise, it is very easy to resign from regular practice and you will not achieve the desired effect.

Take a notebook or diary and list your five reasons why you need to use affirmations. Even better, list five benefits of using the affirmations.

You need to believe that a given affirmation works. Not only the reasons why you use it are important. Decide if you do want to practise a given affirmation and commit to the work if the affirmation becomes a second you.

2. Practise

Brian Tracy wrote in one of his famous books that everything can be unlearned, and bad habits in particular.

Yet all starts with the way you think. Therefore, use affirmations to reprogram your thoughts. If you do it often enough, eventually you will see the world in a different, more positive way which will help you stop an addiction.

I will write more about practising affirmations in the future. For now, let’s use these tips:

  • create a habit - find the right place and time for practising,

  • never hurry and do it under stress,

  • choose the best method -writing, saying aloud, recording and listening,

  • write it on flashcards and place it in visible places so that you will constantly see it

25 Efficient Affirmations for Stopping an Addiction

Here is the list of the 25 efficient affirmations for winning an addiction. Choose one of them and for the next 30 days write it down at least 9 times in your diary, then read it aloud.

Also, think of the affirmation before falling asleep and after waking up.

I have also decided to group the affirmations from a holistic point of view. There are a couple of levels: mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical.
