What Are Chakras

They are swirling wheels of energy corresponding to massive nerve centres in the body. Each of the seven main chakras contains bundles of nerves of our major organs as well as our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being.

As everything is moving, our seven main chakras must stay open, aligned, and fluid. If there is a blockage, energy cannot flow. However, too much energy can also destroy your chakras and your life.

Keeping a chakra open is a bit more challenging, but not so difficult when you have awareness. If you are aware of the energy flow through your chakras, sometimes you will close them. For example, after meditation, it is advisable to close chakras as negative energy has easier access to your aura.

Most spiritual gurus and energy workers focus on the seven main chakras (i.e., the Root, Sacral, solar Plexus, heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown Chakras), forgetting about those which connect us with Mother Earth and Space.

The Chakras Above Your Head

• 8th Chakra: Time Transcendence & Connection to Spirit - This chakra is your connection to other realms and dimensions. If you want to access your past lives, the Akashic records, or communicate with angels and spirit guides, this is the chakra to use. It is useful to shamans, energy workers, and intuitive healers.

• 9th Chakra: Seat of The Soul - it holds the cosmic code to your mission, the soul’s purpose, and divine gifts. It plays a vital role in shaping your destiny.

It is said to be the easiest to access this information through the dream state, and the guides and angels use the dream world and this chakra to communicate with you. Dreams can provide symbols for you to interpret if you are open to receiving the lessons.

• 11th Chakra: Mind Over Matter – This chakra is located outside of the human body; it is said to be accessible through the hands and feet. It makes up an energy field that connects of the human sphere of influence to the supernatural. Shamans can use this chakra’s dimension to produce magic and influence the physical with supernatural powers. The 11th chakra emphasizes the mind as a powerful tool to shape matter.

• 12th Chakra: Universal Unity - This chakra is the final chakra to access to master your soul. It not only connects you to your purpose but also links you to an understanding of the whole human experience and the unity of humanity as well as the cosmic connection to everything else.

The Chakra Under Your Feet

• 10th Chakra: Earth Connection - This chakra is your stronger connection to Mother Earth. While the root chakra grounds you to the Earth, the 10th chakra brings you straight into its energy.

This chakra reminds you that as much as other realms also matter, in this incarnation, you are here on Earth for a reason, and you should work more with this energy and Gaia.

Although there are more than 7 chakras, I will focus on the most known and discussed.

What Does It Mean to Have Balanced Chakras?

Everything in the Universe must be balanced. Everything in excess or shortage causes problems. The same applies to chakras. They can be overactive or underactive. In the case of the overactive chakra, you feel lively, reactive, agitated, and aggressive.

When these energetic centres are underactive, you become sluggish, passive, feeling lifeless and withdrawn. Now let's examine when the chakras are overactive or underactive.

The Root Chakra

When your root chakra is underactive, you feel insecure. It may concern your finances or personal safety. The inability to become grounded is also very common.

Other symptoms may include abandonment issues, depression, lack of stamina or drive and little boundaries.

In the case of the overactive root chakra, you can become materialistic and greedy, resistant to change. Fearfulness, nervousness, negativity, impatience, and aggression are also very common.

The Sacral Chakra

Underactive sacral chakra causes you to become unemotional and closed off, with a lack of self-esteem or self-worth.

Many people with this problem are stiff, frigid, and inclined to pessimism or depression. Sexual or pleasurable guilt/shame plus lack of creativity are also very common, but sluggishness is the symptom met the most often.

Overactive sacral chakra makes you overemotional, moody, and dramatic. You can also have excessive emotional attachment or neediness. Many people suffer from sexual addictions.

The Solar Plexus Chakra

Underactive solar plexus chakra can have a huge impact on our lives.

You can become very passive, and indecisive, without self-control or self-confidence.

Moreover, seeking external approval, worrying about what others think of you and a victim mentality can appear.

However, if this chakra is overactive, you can become addictive

Being judgmental, critical, and domineering can be found among people. Perfectionism, aggression, or anger are very frequent. Some people also manifest self-righteous (“I’m always right”) and bullying behaviour.

The Heart Chakra

This chakra is the centre of our energetic system and the connector between the matter and the spirit. Any imbalances here have serious consequences in our lives. In case of too low activity, you will be more prone to social anxiety, isolation, and self-critical thoughts.

You cannot forgive and be open to people. Feeling unloved and inferior is also very common.

Too active heart chakra means that you become too clingy or suffocated with love. You can also be prone to being a martyr or displaying your love in an imbalanced way.

Many people with this problem lack boundaries are possessive and feel superior and jealous You can find someone who experiences extreme emotional reactions and lacks self-control over emotions.

This chakra is responsible for self-expression. If it is underactive, you are unable to express your thoughts. Shyness is very common, and you are afraid of saying what you think or love. Secrecy might also be your problem, being forgetful and unable to stand up for yourself.

However, when your throat chakra is overactive, you will be prone to stubbornness. Be careful of hostile communication and a tendency to be socially overbearing, which means being talkative, vulnerable to emotions, dishonesty and even manifesting verbal abuse.

The Third Eye Chakra

In the case the of underactive third eye chakra, rigid thinking is very common, you are closed off to new ideas or have an excessive reliance on authority. Many people are insensitive, lack connection to and distrust intuition, they are unable to imagine or visualize things.

There are memory issues and attachment to the past. When your third eye chakra is overactive you are over-imaginative, live in a fantasy world and lack judgment or sympathy. Many people are unable to focus on their daily tasks.

The Crown Chakra

The underactive crown chakra is the reason for the lack of direction or meaning in life. People feel no sense of spirituality and are disconnected from themselves and others. They do not trust or lack faith, have an excessive attachment to material things, and have rigidity or selfishness. Many are unable to see the bigger picture.

The overactive crown chakra leads to addiction to spirituality and ignorance of reality and physical needs. You may experience excessive thoughts, known as “head in the clouds”.
